Here we will tell the story of the beginnings of our church and how we became what we are today.

“Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” Acts 2: 47

The church is a place of refuge for the sin-sick souls of the world. God ordained New Gospel Missionary Baptist Church to be a refuge for these souls. New Gospel was born on September 2001, in its conception the church was held together by a few members. These dedicated members began to seek God for a leader to guide them on their spiritual journey. The fledgling congregation found the power of God’s word spoken with authority, power, and the anointing in the person of Bishop T. J. Bethea Sr., PhD.

Upon installing Bishop Bethea to the office of Pastor of New Gospel MBC he immediately began to labor on behalf of New Gospel MBC. Bishop Bethea embarked on making NGMBC the ministry that God can be proud of and the church were souls are being saved. Bishop Bethea was instrumental in the incorporation process of NGMBC. On November 5, 2001, NGMBC officially became incorporated and recognized by the state of North Carolina.

New Gospel MBC has faced many obstacles to become the institution it is today. The struggle with the enemy in the form of people, who did not have New Gospel’s interests at heart and were working to undermine what God had predestined “But Jesus beheld them and said unto them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible Matthew 19:26.”We are now an organization that is ordained by God to be an impact on the city of Fayetteville, surrounding communities, and finally the world.

Through God’s guidance Pastor Bethea organized the Nehemiah fund, this fund was used to raise the money we needed to purchase our land. On January 2007 Pastor Bethea charged all members to make a pledge to the Nehemiah fund, the goal was to raise $25,000.00 by June 2007. The members took up the charge and completed it in June 2007; by July 2007 we purchased our land. Our faith in God and in our leader we have overcome all things that tried to hinder us. The many complications that we have faced in this ministry we can truly say we are family.

As we sojourn to our new sanctuary we have been through many trials and tribulations. We have suffered many hardships such as leaky roofs, cold sanctuary, no air conditioning, but through it all we as a church family, with God’s help have come together to weather the storms. We were always resting in the knowledge that God will lead us home.

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…” Ecclesiastes 3:1, for a season we were at 1415 Hope Mills Road, for a season we were at Faith House of Prayer, then to the Holiday Inn Bordeaux, our season at the Holiday Inn Bordeaux is over, and now we are reaping the harvest of our new home, at 509 Sandy Valley Road, Fayetteville, NC.

God has given our Pastor, Reverend Dr. T. J. Bethea a vision, and that vision is, “Perfecting the Purpose of Jesus Christ.” To this goal we strive towards every time we exalt the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We are honored to be a part of this great ministry; we are achieving great things, greater works, miracles, and blessings from God.
